Mack 10 = Eastside! I think not! This album, however, provides both East and West styles. It features more artists than Puffy's got remixes. In all there are 24 artists (many from the East) featured over a span of only 14 songs. I wasn't surprised to find that almost all my favorite songs on "The Recipe" were produced by Mack 10. His style leaves something to be desired at first, but you soon realize its slick as hot synthetic oil.
My two favorite songs provide a definite Westside feel. "LBC and the ING" fronts you with an LBC chyme sound and a Westside beat. It features Snoop Dogg and is definitely bumping. "Get Yo Ride On" features the late Eazy-E and MC Eiht. This song puts the westside hoo-bangin action in effect! It's hot.
"The Recipe" has all the ingredients to provide you with a filling meal. Had Mack 10 cooked up all the tracks on this album, it'd probably be much better. If you're hungry for a westside feel, then this album'll be a disappointment. Otherwise its worth checking out, just be prepared to give it time to settle like a good home-cooked meal.
