Mr. Serv-On is back on the scene with his sophomore album. This No Limit soldier is pumped and ready to shine. At times his style is as bright and shiny as a diamond, but other times his style's clouded by over-used No Limit beats. Nonetheless he shows that he's got a solid head on his shoulders with some of the brightest lyrics to come out of No Limit territory. He's a double personality rapper, at times he exuberates the gangsta rap style with lines like: "I don't get caught up in that VIP trip...I ain't rapping in my videos bout money and fame, I like talking bout ni**as who'll die for their street name." Other songs flow with an impressive R&B style. Mr. Serv-On is able to preach sermons that'll touch your soul on songs like "My Homies", "I Hate The Way I Live" and "I'll Be There".
"Snatch Them Hoez Up" is a blazing song. It has the best beat on the album and the combination of Serv-On and Mia X on the mic, will leave your tongues on the ground. "F.U. Serv", "Best Friend II" and the first single, "From NY To NO", which features NY's Big Pun, are a few other songs worthy of note.
The is an average album. Above-average for No-Limit. Mr. Serv-on definitely has some lyrical skills, but he raps to fast that at times his words are indecypherable. As well, there are so many featured No Limit soldiers in his songs that it takes away from the song at times. I was impressed by this album, but not captivated. Serv-On has so much potential and is on the verge of hitting its zenith. I expect his next album to be blazing. In the mean time, this album's meant for the No Limit fan, but not for the average rap fan.
