Joyful Rebellion
K-Os
Virgin/EMI
Ranking 4.5/5

It was rumored that after his last album K-Os was set to retire. Fortunately for hip-hop heads throughout the world, he's back again with one of the best albums of the year: Joyful Rebellion.

The album is a diverse mix of soul, jazz and old school hip-hop with strong positive messages. 'Joyful Rebellion' is a title that fits his goal perfectly by presenting unique sounding hip-hop music that diverts from the mainstream.

'B-Boy Stance' is easy one of my favorite songs of the year, as it provides a unique upbeat energetic beat aimed at getting any b-boy out on the floor. 'Man I Used To Be' immediately inspires visions of an early Michael Jackson, and this song has potential to be just as huge. 'Crabbuckit' is another great upbeat song. 'The Love Song' reached #1 on many campus hip-hop stations throughout North America, due to its honesty and uplifting positive message.

The diversity and sound of this album might not be for everyone - it's everything gangsta is not. But for an open-minded person, Joyful Rebellion is exactly what you've been waiting for in hip-hop - it's inspiring and refreshing.
