The Belly Soundtrack is pretty easy eating as it vouches to be one of the better rap soundtracks of the year. It's amazingly diverse. It's mostly hard rap, but there are several R&B tracks, a Reggae-type track, "Top Shotter" by DMX, Sean Paul & Mr.Vegas; and an LBC-tinged track, "Sometimes" by Noreaga. The album features many top name artists such as Method Man, DMX, Nas, D'Angelo, Jay-Z, Mya, Raekwon, Noreaga, ODB, Rza, Ghostface Killah, The Lox, Gangstarr, WC, and Rakim. The album also introduces several impressive new artists, whose work includes the tracks: "Two Sides" by Hot Totti and "We All Can Get It On" by Drag-On.
Mya provides another sure-shot hit with "Movin' Out" featuring Noreaga and Raekwon. Mya provides the usual smooth chorus, but puts a capping edge on her voice as she throws in the occasional 'ugh'. If it comes out with a video, then watch out for it to be burning up the club scene! "Militia Remix" by GangStarr is pretty dope. Lyrically it's amazing! It features the lyrical god, Rakim and one of my favorite lyricists, WC. Wu-Tang makes an appearance with "Windpipe", its got hit potential. Ol Dirty Bastard provides the hook. Rza(my other favorite lyricist) provides most of the lyrics. It's got the usual laid-back Wu-Tang, Rza-produced backbeat. It's a great song.
The Belly Soundtrack was quite enjoyable. There were quite a few great songs, but there were a few mediocre songs by unknown artists. It provided a great variety of style and artists and as a result it turns out to be one of the better rap soundtracks of the year!
