It scares me how easily a truly talented artist can so easily fall through the cracks. That was almost the fate of Bahamadia label conflicts following the release of her 1996 debut 'Kollage'. Bahamadia is one of the original female MC's. Her highly intellectual lyricism coupled with a uniquely distinguishable voice make her an underground icon. Her flow is smooth and fast, at times slightly off beat, but with the range of issues she covers on her 'BB Queen' EP, she'll leave your head in a tantalizing swirl.

"Commonwealth (Cheap Chicks)" was the single that first caught my attention. I found myself always coming back to it because of its "Vivrant Thing" appeal and the chorus is just too smooth. "Special Forces" took the underground by surprise with DJ Revolution spinning out a beat with appearances by Planet Asia, Rasco, and Chops. Bahamadia's MC skillz shine on "Pep Talk." She flows scintillatingly fast over a jazzy upbeat feel good track. "Beautiful Things" deals with all the evils that engulph the world.

This EP is a very impressive return for Bahamadia. Now that she's up from the underground, expect more of her lightning fast verses and diversely soulful musical style. 'BB Queen' is quality hip hop, so take a listen if you want to enlighten your mind.
